RALEIGH - If you're looking for a good meal that can also be a lot of fun, then we highly recommend Fujisan Japanese steak house in the Brier Creek shopping center in Raleigh.
We've had a chance to eat at Fujisan several times and we've never been disappointed -- they've consistently delivered quality food and great service.
If you've never been to a Japanese steak house, then you're in for a treat if you visit Fujisan.
The chef cooks the meal right in front of you on a hibachi grill, putting on a show featuring a little bit of juggling, quick knife work, and even some pyrotechnics as the flame flares up during cooking.
When ordering , we usually get the steak and shrimp combination for around $18, which includes a salad with their fantastic house ginger dressing and the great tasting hot soup with mushrooms and onions.
During the meal, which includes lots of flare and showmanship on the grill, the chef first makes the rice, then the vegetables, and then you're served the meat or seafood if you've ordered it.
We've had several of the meat dishes including the steak, shrimp, and chicken and have found all of them to taste great. There's really no way you can go wrong ordering any of those three.
Of course, they also offer such items as lobster, scallops, other seafood, and even sushi but we've found that their basic dishes are still the best and also a great value.
The restaurant is fairly economical for a night out on the town since two people can easily eat at Fujisan for under $40 plus tip. We've eaten at restaurants that cost twice that price but were not as pleased as when we ate at Fujisan.
It's not only a great meal, but a great show as well and in terms of consistent quality, we highly recommend Fujisan to anyone.
