::Raleigh Fireworks Didn't End With Bang By Elliott West, Raleigh Chronicle News Editor Friday, July 6, 2007 RALEIGH - Many folks at the Raleigh State Fairgrounds watching the fireworks this year weren't exactly sure when the show was over. Most fireworks displays end with a bang and an impressive cascade of light and noise, but this year some fireworks viewers were kind of left hanging. VIDEO: Raleigh Fireworks Finale "In past years, you could definitely tell the finale because it was really loud," said one onlooker who was near the RBC Center. "[Tonight], the only way we could tell it was over was when there were no more fireworks." Although many seemed impressed with the "special effects" fireworks that included smiley faces and saturn-shaped displays, some had hoped there be more old-fashioned shake, rattle, and hum. "I was a little disappointed," said a man with a car load full of kids. "I've seen better fireworks in much smaller towns." :: [ home ] |
