::Downtown Shopping Center Gets Makeover From Raleigh Chronicle Staff & Wire Reports Friday June 22, 2007 RALEIGH - Several hundred people showed up on Wednesday night for the grand reopening of the HighPark Village Shopping Center in downtown Raleigh. The decades old shopping center that is managed by York Properties is located at the intersection of Bernard Street and Whitaker Mill Road not far from the Five Points area. Construction was just completed on the refurbishment of the buildings to make them more modern. At the block party reopening event, visitors enjoyed some live bluegrass music from Old Habits and free food in the parking lot. Those visiting also enjoyed the newly opened outdoor seating area of the HighPark Bar And Grill which now allows patrons to enjoy dinner or drinks outside under a covered brick area. Food was provided by the Lady Fingers Catering which is also located in the shopping center. Other businesses in the shopping center include antiques stores, a hair salon, a laundromat, and the Lighthouse Food Mart.
