::Wake Co. Man Wins $247,748 In NC Lottery

RALEIGH - According to NC Lottery officials, Wake County man who bought a ticket in Cary won almost $250,000 playing the North Carolina Education Lottery's "Carolina Cash 5" game. The game involves picking five numbers that match those drawn by lottery officials on that same day.
Troy Smith of Holly Springs visited the lottery's headquarters this week to collect his prize worth $247,748, said the lottery.
Smith told the NC Lottery he has been playing the game since it was introduced and always picks the same five numbers that represent his family members' ages and birthdays.
Smith said he bought winning ticket was purchased at the Kangaroo Express #816 gas station on Harrison Avenue in Cary.
Other Recent Winners
On Sunday, a player from Yadkinville won $74,159 playing "Carolina Cash 5." That winner has not claimed their prize yet, says the NC Lottery.
In Saturday's Powerball drawing, three players won big prizes ranging from $200,000 to $10,000.
The $200,000 ticket was sold at Parade on Dabney Drive in Henderson, NC to the player who matched all five white balls.
A total of 47,951 Powerball players won $762,515 in prizes Saturday.
For the first time since the NCEL introduced "Carolina Pick 3" in October, the drawing produced a triple number.
The numbers on Friday were 111. In the past four days, "Carolina Pick 3" players have won $1,477,400 in prizes. ::
